Restless Heart Syndrome Lyrics Green Day
The opening lyric of this song is "I've got a really bad disease" and is a possibly a reference or a nod to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers' 'Soul to Squeeze' which has the same opening lyric.
The song has its place as the last place of 21st Century Breakdown's Act II - Charlatans and Saints
Restless Heart Syndrome:
I've got a really bad disease
It's got me begging
On my hands and knees
Take me to the emergency
'Cause something seems to be missing
Somebody take the pain away
It's like an ulcer bleeding in my brain
Send me to the pharmacy
So I can lose my memory
I'm elated
Medicated
Lord knows I tried to find a way to run away.
I think they found another cure
For broken hearts and feeling insecure
You'd be surprised what I endure
What make you feel so self-assured?
I need to find a place to hide
You never know what could be
Waiting outside
The accidents that you could find
It's like some kind of suicide
So what ails you is what impales you
I feel like I've been crucified to be satisfied
I'm a victim of my symptom
I am my own worst enemy
You're a victim of your symptom
You are your own worst enemy
Know your enemy
I'm elated
Medicated
I am my own worst enemy
So what ails you is what impales you
You are your own worst enemy
You're a victim of the system
You are your own worst enemy
You're a victim of the system
You are your own worst enemy
It's got me begging
On my hands and knees
Take me to the emergency
'Cause something seems to be missing
Somebody take the pain away
It's like an ulcer bleeding in my brain
Send me to the pharmacy
So I can lose my memory
I'm elated
Medicated
Lord knows I tried to find a way to run away.
I think they found another cure
For broken hearts and feeling insecure
You'd be surprised what I endure
What make you feel so self-assured?
I need to find a place to hide
You never know what could be
Waiting outside
The accidents that you could find
It's like some kind of suicide
So what ails you is what impales you
I feel like I've been crucified to be satisfied
I'm a victim of my symptom
I am my own worst enemy
You're a victim of your symptom
You are your own worst enemy
Know your enemy
I'm elated
Medicated
I am my own worst enemy
So what ails you is what impales you
You are your own worst enemy
You're a victim of the system
You are your own worst enemy
You're a victim of the system
You are your own worst enemy
You might want to spell their names right. It's Billie with and IE and there is no Y in Tre's name. Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteChur, such a dumb mistake, I knew this!
ReplyDeleteCheck out this site!
ReplyDeleteNice song, I heart it...
ReplyDeleteTHIS STARTS OFF ON A NICE MELODIC BEATLES TOUCH, THEN GOES INTO A GREEN DAY PUNK ROCK PSYCHEDELIC ROLLER COASTER...A GREAT FUCKIN' SONG
ReplyDeleteNot a bad sounding song, but by far the worst lyrics so far. Nothing original here.
ReplyDeletei agree, not the best lyrics, but overall good. not the best song.
ReplyDeletegood song but the lyrics are not so cool
ReplyDeletei like it a lot... i dunno why you say no.
ReplyDeletebest song of the album :D
ReplyDeleteHonestly one of the best songs music wise on the album. Like someone else said, it's awesome how it goes from being Beatles influenced to a punk rock ballad.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the lyrics go, I actually find them to be pretty creative. The whole medical metaphor is pretty creative, but some of the cheesy rhymes bring it down just a tad. Not the best lyrics on the whole album, but they're pretty good, especially coupled with the music.
