amazing song i love how right at the first "Gloria, viva la Gloria" it goes from a "normal" ballad, to a rock "ballad". It almost seems like the first part is but a prologue to the rock that follows. Great song, great album, you've done it again Green Day. They seem like the only people that can write a proper rock opera.

I love this song. Especially because it starts out mellow, then there's a pause, and it goes loud and upbeat.

ReplyDeleteI think it has to do mostly with the presidency, like when it says "weather the storm and don't look back on last november"... the elections are held in November. Btw this song was written before Obama so its not regarding him, only song written after obama is Murder City.

ReplyDeletemy very good friend sent me this song one day, and I fell in love with it in the first 5 seconds. The lyrics are brilliant. There is nothing about the music, singers, lyrics - anything - that could be improved at all.

I think the thing that made me attracted to Green Day's music is the fact that they use so many metaphors[etc] and it's not like simple stuff where you automatically get what the song is about the first time you listen. The songs (generally) send out messages, but you have to find it.

ReplyDeleteWow, I love this song and it is one of my favorite songs of all time. I also love Green Day and they are one of my favorite bands of all time. If I'm being honest, this is the best song on the whole album by a long shot- and there quite a few brilliant songs on this album!
