I heard you crying all the way across town

21st century break down album cover green day

The Guardian newspaper has written a review of Green Day’s new album, 21st Century Breakdown, which is all nice and dandy. I thought the final paragraph was way interesting and worth some further comment:

“Green Day have become so accustomed to viewing the American Dream as a nightmare that they've lost sight of another significant interpretation. That three punks who named their band after slacker slang for sitting around getting stoned can become the most prescient polemicists of their age is as good a justification of the American ideal as you could hope to find.”

This is an interesting insight as on face value, it could be very true, Green Day are now the American Dream. Young people everywhere want to have their success. Their songs, their money, their houses, their face on the cover of a magazine. They want it all and they want it now. They are the new ideal American Idol. They stuck it to the man with their songs and now they are the Man about the House. Game over, man.

Going deeper though, predictable people could parrot on that Green Day have now actually become part of the corporate machine (by the way which one of you is Pink?), indeed a global commercial juggernaut selling boat loats of songs, t shirts and concert tickets, giving the apathetic consumer whores something else to suckle from the tit of commercial greed. This view, however, could just simply be myself echoing the familiar cry against every band who ever tasted mainstream success having come from initial humble punk roots as having sold out to the Man. Man, there is NO return to 86.

Or you could just say Green Day are just three guys making their way through the universe who got very lucky.

Where I disagreed with the paragraph was where it described Green Day as being “prescient polemicists”. Prescient means to have an ability to see the future. A polemicist is a person who puts forward a controversial view. For the Guardian to suggest that Green Day have the ability to see the future is quite odd, because American Idiot (of which its lyrical themes presumably precipitated the comment) was actually a comment on what had happened to America under the watch of George Bush. It was not a guess as to what would happen. St Jimmy blew his brains out, Green Day did not foresee this but commented on the fact. As for being polemic, that fact Green Day are soooo popular suggests they are not actually putting forward a controversial view, in fact they could just be singing what everybody is thinking.

See the Light Lyrics Green Day

See the Light song lyrics by Green Day

The final song in Green Day's epic 21st Century Breakdown.

The lyrics suggested a tired character, not quite converted, not quite sure of they want but wanting something but not getting it from religion. This seems to make sense as much of the album appears to be an exploration of the failings of Christianity and religion in general. What do you think the lyrics mean?

'See the light' is from Green Day's 8th studio album, 21st Century Breakdown. The references to fighting echo that of 21 guns which was one of the lead singles from the album.

See the Light song lyrics by Green Day

I crossed the river
Fell into the sea
Where the non-believers
Go beyond belief
Then I scratched the surface
In the mouth of hell
Running out of service
In the blood I fell

I just want to see the light
i don't want to lose my sight
I just want to see the light
I need to know what's worth the fight

I've been wasted
Pills and alcohol
I've been chasing
Down the pool halls
Then I drank the water
From a hurricane
And I set a fire
Just to see the flame

I just want to see the light
I don't want to lose my sight
I just want to see the light
I need to know what's worth the fight

I crossed the desert
Reaching higher ground
Then I pound the pavement
To take the liars down
But it's gone forever
But never too late
Where the ever after
Is in the hands of fate

I just want to see the light
I don't want to lose my sight
I just want to see the light
I need to know what's worth the fight

American Eulogy Part Two: Modern World Lyrics Green Day

American Eulogy Part Two: Modern World Lyrics Green Day

Here's Part One: Mass Hysteria of American Eulogy

I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world

I'm the class of 13
In the era of dissent
A hostage of the soul
On a strike to pay the rent
The last of the rebels
Without a common ground
I'm gonna light a fire
Into the underground

I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world

I am a nation
Without bureaucratic ties
Deny the allegation as it's written

I want to take a ride to the great divide
Beyond the "up to date"
And then neo-gentrified
The high definition for the low resident
Where the value of your mind
Is not held in contempt
I can hear the sound of
A beating heart
That bleeds beyond a system
That's falling apart
With money to burn
On a minimum wage
'Cause I don't give a shit
About the modern age

I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
I don't want to live in the modern world
Mass Hysteria
I don't want to live in the modern world
Mass Hysteria
I don't want to live in the modern world
Mass Hysteria
I don't want to live in the modern world
Mass Hysteria

American Eulogy Part One: Mass Hysteria Lyrics Greenday

Green Day have bravely used the term 'niggers' in the lyric. It will be interesting to see how people react to it.

American Eulogy Lyric:

Sing us the song of the century
That sings like American eulogy
The dawn of my love and conspiracy
Of forgotten hope and the class of 13
Tell me a story into that goodnight
Sing us a song for me

Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria

Red alert is the color of panic
Elevated to the point of static
Beating into the hearts of the fanatics
And the neighborhood's a loaded gun
Idle thought leads to full-throttle screaming
And the welfare is asphyxiating
Mass confusion is all the new rage
And it's creating a feeding ground
For the bottom feeders of hysteria

Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria

True sounds of maniacal laughter
And the deaf-mute is misleading the choir
The punch line is a natural disaster
And it's sung by the unemployed
Fight fire with a riot
The class war is hanging on a wire
Because the martyr is a compulsive liar
When he said
"It's just a bunch of niggers throwing gas into the hysteria"

Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria
Mass Hysteria

There's a disturbance on the oceanside
They tapped into the reserve
The static response is so unclear now
Mayday this is not a test!
As the neighborhood burns, American is falling
Vigilantes warning you
Calling Christian and Gloria

The Static Age Lyrics Green Day

21st century break down album cover green day

The Static Age Lyrics Green Day

The Static Age is from Green Day's album 21st Century Breakdown. The lyrics appear to suggest the character cannot get any meaning from the world's means of communication as there is too much static - which is in the form of religion, advertising and corporate giant market power e.g. the coca cola reference.

The Static Age Lyrics:
Can you hear the sound of the static noise?
Blasting out in stereo
Cater to the class and the paranoid
Music to my nervous system
Advertising love and religion
Murder on the airwaves
Slogans on the brink of corruption
Vision of blasphemy, war and peace
Screaming at you

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

Billboard on the rise in the dawn's landscape
Working your insanity
Tragic a'la madness and concrete
Coca Cola execution
Conscience on a cross and
You're hearts in a vice
Squeezing out your state of mind
Are what you own that you cannot buy?
What a fucking tragedy, strategy
Screaming at you.

green day 21st century breakdown cover

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

Hey hey it's the static age
This is how the west was won
Hey hey it's the static age millennium

All I want to know
Is a God-damned thing
Not what's in the medicine
All I want to do is
I want to breathe
Batteries are not included
What's the latest way that a man can die
Screaming hallelujah?
Singing out "The dawn's early light"
The silence of the rotten, forgotten
Screaming at you.

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age

I can't see a thing in the video
I can't hear a sound on the radio
In stereo in the static age
The static age

Horseshoes and Handgrenades Lyrics Green Day

21st century break down album cover green day

Horseshoes and Handgrenades Lyrics Green Day

What do Horseshoes and Handgrenades have in common? You can throw them both...as noted in the comments by onto person, it's actually an expression and kind of an be translated as close but no cigar... kinda.

Horseshoes and Handgrenades is the first song from Act III of Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown. The Act is also named Horseshoes and Hand Grenades.

Horseshoes and Handgrenades:

I'm not fucking around
I think I'm coming out
All the deceivers and cheaters
I've think we've got a bleeder right now
Want you to slap me around
Want you to knock me out
Well, you missed me kissed me
Now you better kick me down

Maybe you're the runner up
But the first one to lose the race
Almost only really counts in
Horseshoes and hand grenades

I'm gonna burn it all down
I'm gonna rip it out
Well, everything that you employ
Was meant for me to destroy
To the ground now
So don't you fuck me around
Because I'll shoot you down
I'm gonna drink, fight and fuck
And pushing my luck
All the time now

Maybe you're the runner up
But the first one to lose the race
Almost only really counts in
Horseshoes and hand grenades

Demolition, self-destruction
What to annihilate
The age-old contradiction
Demolition, self-destruction
What to annihilate
The old age

I'm not fucking around
I think I'm coming out
All the deceivers and cheaters
I've think we've got a bleeder right now
I'm not fucking around
G-L-O-R-I-A

¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl) Lyrics Green Day

Little girl, little girl
Why are you crying?
Inside your restless soul your heart is dying.
Little one, little one
Your soul is purging
Of love and razor blades
Your blood is surging

Runaway
From the river to the street
And find yourself with your face in the gutter
Your a stray for the salvation army
There is no place like home
When you got no place to go

Little girl, little girl
Your life is calling
The charlatans and saints of your abandon
Little one little one
The sky is falling
The lifeboat of deception is now sailing
In the wake all the way
No rhyme or reason
Your bloodshot eyes
Will show your heart of treason
Little girl little girl
You dirty liar
You're just a junkie
Preaching to the choir

Runaway
To your lost tranquility
And find yourself with your face in the gutter
You're a stray for the dregs of humanity
There is no place like home
When you got no place to go

The traces of blood
Always follow you home
Like the mascara tears
From your getaway
Your walking with blisters
and running with shears
So unholy.
Sister of grace.

Runaway
From the river to the street
And find yourself with your face in the gutter
You're a stray for the
salvation army
There is no place like home
When you got no place to go

¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl) Lyrics Green Day

This is the second song off 21st Century Breakdown with Viva la Gloria in the title. It's a companion piece to the song of the same name.

¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl) Lyrics:

'Murder City' song lyrics by Green Day

'Murder City' song lyrics by Green Day

'Murder City' song lyrics by Green Day

Murder City is from Green Day's album, 21st Century Breakdown and is the follow up to their phenomenal American Idiot

Possibly a song about the infamous 'Battle for Seattle' - the reference to Christian means the song could be a commentary on the supposed downfall of society and how religion has both caused and failed to help the failing society and yes, we understand that Christian is a character that flows through the album.

Murder City Lyrics:

Desperate
But not hopeless
I feel so useless
In the murder city
Desperate
But not helpless
The clock strikes midnight
In the murder city

I'm wide awake
After the riot
This demonstration
Of our anguish
This empty laughter
Has no reason
Like a bottle
Of your favorite poison

We are the last call
And we're so pathetic

Christian's crying
In the bathroom
And I just want to
Bum a cigarette
We've come so far,
We've been so wasted
It's written

All over our faces

Last of the American Girls song lyrics by Green Day

21st century break down album cover green day

Last of the American Girls Lyrics Green Day

Last of the American Girls is from Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown album:

She puts her makeup on
Like graffiti on the walls of the heartland
She's got her little book of conspiracies
Right in her hand
She is paranoid like
Endangered species headed into extinction
She is one of a kind
She's the last of the American girls

She wears her overcoat
For the coming of the nuclear winter
She is riding her bike
Like a fugitive of critical mass
She's on a hunger strike
For the ones who won't make it for dinner
She makes enough to survive
For a holiday of working class

She's a runaway of the establishment incorporated.
She won't cooperate
She's the last of the American girls

She plays her vinyl records
Singing songs on the eve of destruction
She's a sucker for
All the criminals breaking the laws
She will come in first
For the end of western civilization
She's an endless war
Like a hero for the lost cause
Like a hurricane
In the heart of the devastation
She's a natural disaster
She's the last of the American girls

She puts her makeup on
Like graffiti on the walls of the heartland
She's got her little book of conspiracies
Right in her hand
She will come in first
For the end of western civilization
She's a natural disaster
She's the last of the American girls

Peacemaker song lyrics by Green Day

Greenday Peacemaker song words

Peacemaker song lyrics by Green Day

Peacemaker is from Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown concept album which is the follow up to the hugely popular American Idiot.

The protagonist of the album Christian may have joined the Army as a peacemaker but he's realised he's just part of the war machine, the peacemaker is actually a weapon and it's being turned on the 'infidels', a curious use of the word depending on which side of the war and or religion your, or Christian are on.

His feeling's about his place in the war were aptly summed up by the songwriter Billie-Joe in the smash hit single, 21 Guns.

Peacemaker song lyrics by Green Day

Well, I've got a fever
A non-believer
I'm in a state of grace
For I am the Caesar
I'm gonna seize the day
Well, call of the banshee hey hey
Hey hey hey hey hey
As God as my witness
The infidels are gonna pay

Well, call the assassin
The orgasm
A spasm of love and hate
For what will divide us?
The righteous and the meek
Well, call of the wild hey hey
Hey hey hey hey hey
Death to the girl at the end of the serenade

Vendetta, sweet vendetta
This Beretta of the night
This fire and the desire
Shots ringing out on a holy parasite

I am a killjoy from Detroit
I drink from a well of rage
I feed off the weakness with all my love
Call up the captain hey hey
Hey hey hey hey hey
Death to the lover that you were dreaming of

This is a stand off
A Molotov cocktail
On the house
You thought I was a write off
You better think again
Call the peacemaker hey hey
Hey hey hey hey hey
I'm gonna send you back to the place where it all began

Vendetta, sweet vendetta
This Beretta of the night
This fire and the desire
Shots ringing out on a holy parasite

Well now the caretaker's the undertaker
Now I'm gonna go out and get the peacemaker
This is the neo St. Valentines Massacre
Well call up the Gaza hey hey
hey hey hey hey hey
Death to the ones at the end of the serenade
Well, death to the ones at the end of the serenade
Well, death to the ones at the end of the serenade
Well, death to the ones at the end of the serenade

"East Jesus Nowhere" song lyrics by Green Day

21st century break down album cover green day

"East Jesus Nowhere" song lyrics by Green Day

East Jesus Nowhere is from Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown album. It starts off Act II of the album known as 'Charlatans and Saints'

A Charlatan is a swindler or con artist type player. A saint is your mother or the one called Theresa (though technically she's not a saint, despite the Pope's efforts).

The song's lyrics a mess of metaphors about the Christian Church, and a rant against those who have turned reglion into an income and about politicians that abuse their powers to promote religious social policies. The opening versus even appears to suggest that there's nothing anybody can do about it because religion and those in power are too far entrenched.

East Jesus No Where lyrics

Raise your hands now to testify
Your confession will be crucified
You're a sacrificial suicide
Like a dog that's been sodomized
Stand up! - All the white boys
Sit down! - All the black girls
You're the soldiers of the new world

Put your faith in a miracle
And it's non-denominational
Join the choir we will be singing
In the church of wishful thinking

A fire burns today
Of blasphemy and genocide
The sirens of decay
Will infiltrate the faith fanatics

Oh bless me lord for I have sinned
It's been a lifetime since I last confessed
I threw my crutches in "The river
Of a shadow of doubt"
And I'll be dressed in my Sunday best

Say a prayer for the family
Drop a coin for humanity
Ain't this uniform so flattering?
I never asked you a God damned thing

A fire burns today
Of blasphemy and genocide
The sirens of decay
Will infiltrate the faith fanatics

Don't test me
Second guess me
Protest me
You will disappear

I want to know who's allowed to breed
All the dogs who never learned to read
Missionary politicians
And the cops of a new religion

A fire burns today
Of blasphemy and genocide
The sirens of decay
Will infiltrate the inside

Before the Lobotomy Lyrics Greenday

Before the Lobotomy Lyrics Greenday

What is a Lobotomy? It's the ultimate sanction when The Man comes to take you down. He takes away your ability to think and renders you useless as person. "The procedure has since been characterized "as one of the most barbaric mistakes ever perpetrated by mainstream medicine". Think about that when you read the lyrics and the equivalent damage that has been done in the name of Christianity...

Before the Lobotomy:

Dreaming
I am only dreaming
Of another place and time
Where my family's from.

Singing
I can hear them singing.
When the rain had washed away
All these scattered dreams

Dying
Everyone's reminded
Hearts are washed in misery
Drenched in gasoline

Laughter
There is no more laughter
Songs of yesterday
Now live in the underground

Life before the lobotomy
Christian sang the eulogy
Sign my love a lost memory
From the end of the century

Well it's enough to make you sick
To cast a stone and throw a brick
When the sky is falling down
It burned your dreams into the ground

Christian's lesson is what he's been sold
We are normal and self-controlled
Remember to learn to forget
Whiskey shots and cheap cigarettes

Well I'm not stoned
I'm just fucked up
I got so high I can't stand up
I'm not cursed cause I've been blessed
I'm not in love cause I'm a mess

Like refugees
We're lost like refugees
Like refugees
We're lost like refugees
The brutality of reality
Is the freedom that keeps me from

Dreaming
I was only dreaming
Of another place and time
Where my family's from.

Singing
i can hear them singing.
When the rain had washed away
All these scattered dreams

Dying
Everyone's reminded
Hearts are washed in misery
Drenched in gasoline

Laughter
There is no more laughter
Songs of yesterday
Now live in the underground

Song of the Century song lyrics by Green Day

Song of the Century song lyrics by the awesomeness that is Green Day

The first track off the album, it's a gentle introduction to some of the themes that are about to be explored by Billie-Joe. If you didn't know already, the album is based on the concept of religion failing people, about how the central tenants of it have been lost and religion is now an excuse to exact power over people and treat others poorly. The song's meaning is saying to the listener, hey, here's an issue, everybody is singing about it, I'm going to, but you might not like this story.

Song of the Century lyrics

Sing us a song of the century
That's louder than bombs
And eternity
The era of static and contraband
That's leading us to the promised land
Tell us a story that's by candlelight
Waging a war and losing the fight

They're playing the song of the century
Of panic and promise and prosperity
Tell me a story into that goodnight
Sing us a song for me

The' Sing us a song' lyric is very reminds me of Billy Joel's Piano Man. What do you think?

"21 Guns" song lyrics by Green Day

21 guns lyrics by green day from 21 century breakdown

21 Guns lyrics by Green Day from the album 21st Century Breakdown

21 Guns is the second single from Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown album. The song was featured in Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen and was one of Green Day's biggest ever chart success.

Lyrically, the song is about patriotism - living and dying for your country. The number 21 is a reference to the gun salute that is often given at burials for fallen soldiers.

Billie-Joe is asking the listener to wonder whether patriotism is worth it, and if it is who benefits. In effect, the song's meaning is that it is an anti war lament - but that number 21 also ties in with the 21st Century theme of the album - the issues 21st Century Breakdown consider are largely religious and the abuse of political power and those two concerns often lead to war.

Consider George Bush's war on Iraq to supposedly take Weapons of Mass Destruction from the control of Saddam Hussein. This was a fiction and the Bush administration took advantage of it to their own agenda - so, when Billie-Joe's lyrics are wondering if it's worth going to war, it can be seen in part as the reflections of a soldier who has taken part in the Iraq war and seen the personal cost.

Or it's from the point of view of a family member or friend who has seen the direct affect of war on a soldier. The effect of leaving him or her in ruins, for the gain of the Bush Administration. A lot of this kind of issue was covered by Green Day in their American Idiot song.

"21 Guns" song lyrics by Green Day

Do you know what's worth fighting for,
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone

When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins.

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

21st Century Breakdown released May 15th

Reprise Records will release Green Day's long-awaited eighth studio album, entitled 21st Century Breakdown, on Friday, May 15th, 2009. The album is the best-selling trio's first studio album since 2004's two-time Grammy Award-winning punk-rock opera American Idiot, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide.

21st Century Breakdown is divided into three acts: "Heroes and Cons," "Charlatans and Saints," and "Horseshoes and Handgrenades," and follows a young couple, Christian and Gloria, through the mess and promise of the century so far. Songs include "Know Your Enemy," "21 Guns," "East Jesus Nowhere," "Before the Lobotomy," and "Restless Heart Syndrome." In a recent feature, Rolling Stone called the album "even more ambitious than American Idiot" and "a record of die-hard punk ideals...tightly scripted, continually ascending classic-rock excitement."

Singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool have been at work writing, arranging, and recording 21st Century Breakdown since early 2006 and are currently making finishing touches with producer Butch Vig, who is known for his work with Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, and many others.

The first single from 21st Century Breakdown is "Know Your Enemy," which will impact radio and be available for purchase from all online retailers this April.

Restless Heart Syndrome Lyrics Green Day

Restless Heart Syndrome Lyrics Green Day

The opening lyric of this song is  "I've got a really bad disease" and is a possibly a reference or a nod to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers' 'Soul to Squeeze'  which has the same opening lyric.

The song has its place as the last place of  21st Century Breakdown's  Act II - Charlatans and Saints

Restless Heart Syndrome:

I've got a really bad disease
It's got me begging
On my hands and knees
Take me to the emergency
'Cause something seems to be missing
Somebody take the pain away
It's like an ulcer bleeding in my brain
Send me to the pharmacy
So I can lose my memory
I'm elated
Medicated
Lord knows I tried to find a way to run away.

I think they found another cure
For broken hearts and feeling insecure
You'd be surprised what I endure
What make you feel so self-assured?

I need to find a place to hide
You never know what could be
Waiting outside
The accidents that you could find
It's like some kind of suicide

So what ails you is what impales you
I feel like I've been crucified to be satisfied

I'm a victim of my symptom
I am my own worst enemy
You're a victim of your symptom
You are your own worst enemy
Know your enemy

I'm elated
Medicated
I am my own worst enemy
So what ails you is what impales you
You are your own worst enemy
You're a victim of the system
You are your own worst enemy
You're a victim of the system
You are your own worst enemy

Last Night on Earth song lyrics by Green Day

Last Night on Earth song lyrics by Green Day

U2 has a Last Night on Earth song (Michael Jackson had an Earth Song too!), and now so do Green Day from their album, 21st Century Breakdown.

Lyrically the songs meaning is that it's just a classic love song where a boy writes a girl a letter. This song is probably from the point of view Christian (the key protagonist of the album).

The modern day context is that it was by text message via a mobile phone and he wanted to know if the message had gotten through. Could it be that the girl (or) boy was deliberately ignoring the loving texts?

The lyrics are thus classic Green Day - at first glance it's a soppy love song, big dig a little deeper and it's a commentary on modern communication, immediacy and given the whole context of the album (fall of religion, people looking for something to believe in), it could perhaps even be even a last message before Christian commits suicide or his last good bye before he marches into battle. Onwards Christian Solider indeed.

Last Night On Earth lyrics
I text a postcard, sent to you
Did it go through?
Sending all my love to you.
You are the moonlight of my life every night
Giving all my love to you
My beating heart belongs to you
I walked for miles til I found you
I'm here to honor you
If I lose everything in the fire
I'm sending all my love to you.

With every breath that I am worth
Here on earth
I'm sending all my love to you.
So if you dare to second guess
you can rest assured
That all my love's for you

My beating heart belongs to you
I walked for miles til I found you
I'm here to honor you
If I lose everything in the fire
I'm sending all my love to you.

My beating heart belongs to you
I walked for miles til I found you
I'm here to honor you
If I lose everything in the fire
Did I ever make it through?

Christian's Inferno Lyrics Green Day

Christian's Inferno Lyrics Green Day

This song is from Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown album.

Christian's Inferno

I got under the grip
Between the modern hell
I got the rejection letter in the mail and
It was already ripped to shreds.
Seasons in a ruin and
This bitter pill is chased with blood.
There's fire in my veins
And it's pouring out like a flood

Whoa, Christian's inferno
Whoa, Christian's inferno
Whoa, Christian's inferno
Whoa, Christian's inferno

This diabolic state is gracing my existence
Like a catasrophic baby
Maybe you're the chemical reaction
I am the atom bomb
I am the chosen one
Toxin your reservoir
And then return man to ape

Whoa, Christian's inferno
Whoa, Christian's inferno
Whoa, Christian's inferno
Whoa, Christian's inferno

Viva la Gloria Lyrics Green Day

Viva la Gloria Lyrics Green Day

Van Morrisson has a gloria song, so do U2 and now Greenday...

Viva La Gloria Lyrics:

Hey Gloria
Are you standing close to the edge?
Lookout to the setting sun
The brink of your vision
Eternal youth is
A landscape of the lie

The cracks of my skin can prove
As the years will testify
Say your prayers and light a fire
We're going to start a war
Your slogan's a gun for hire
It's what we waited for

Hey Gloria,

This is why we're on the edge
The fight of our lives been drawn to
This undying love.

Gloria, Viva La Gloria
You blast your name
In graffiti on the walls
Falling through broken glass that's
Slashing through your spirit
I can hear it like a jilted crowd

Gloria, where are you Gloria
You found a home
In all your scars and ammunition
You made your bed in salad days
Amongst the ruin
Ashes to ashes of our youth

She smashed her knuckles into winter
As autumns wind fades into black
She is the saint on all the sinners
The one that's fallen through the cracks
So don't put away your burning light

Gloria, where are you Gloria
Don't lose your faith
To your lost naivete
Weather the storm and don't look
Back on last November
When your banners were burning down

Gloria, viva la Gloria
Send me your amnesty down
To the broken hearted
Bring us the season
That we always will remember
Don't let the bonfires go out

So Gloria,
Send out your message of the light
That shadows in the night.
Gloria, where's your undying love?
Tell me the story of your life
